WELCOME TO ENGLISH

Courses

Belmont High School offers English for Years 7 through to 12

In Years 11 and 12 the following English courses are offered:

• English Studies
• Standard English
• Advanced English
• Extension 1 English
• Extension 2 English (available to the top Extension 1 students in their HSC year)

Debating and Public Speaking

The English faculty also encourages students to participate in extra curicular activities such as public speaking and debating.

Students are offered the opportunity to participate in debating competitions that are advertised through the school notices and English classrooms.

Homework

Students need to:

• read fiction and/or non fiction regularly in their own time
• complete homework tasks as set by their teacher
• learn the spelling and word meanings for their current unit of  study
