It is expected that all students enrolled in the school attend school regularly and participate fully and effectively in all educational programs available in the school. Students, parents and guardians should be aware of the following:

  • Regular and punctual attendance is compulsory and is a requirement for the award of both the Record of Achievement and HSC by the Board of Studies
  • Parents/ guardians have a responsibility to ensure that a student enrolled at school attends school every day unless there is a legitimate reason
  • If a student is absent from school, it is expected that the parent/guardian will inform the school in writing on the first day of the student’s return, the reason for the absence. All notes should state student's name, Year and date of absence. All notes must be signed and dated by the parent/guardian, not the student.
  • Parents/guardians are asked to notify the school by phone if a child's absence is likely to be more than 2 days. If an absence of 2 days occurs and is not notified a letter will be sent to the parent/guardian.  Cases of prolonged or frequent unexplained absences are reported to the Home School Liaison Officer for investigation.

No student should leave the school grounds without a clearance from Student Services.

We are legally responsible for students while they are enrolled at Belmont High School.
