Crossroads at School

For those students staying at school rather than attending the camp, Crossroads will be delivered over the same 3 day period.

· The first day for Crossroads is Tuesday, October 16th. Students will attend until Break 2 and then leave as is usual for this day. We have series of workshops including a delivery to boys and girls separately by the Police Schools Liaison Officer, Senior Constable Peter Hughes. This is complemented by a series of staff delivered lessons.

· Wednesday Oct 17th, we have Tom Reynolds, founder of Independent Drug Education Australia presenting a seminar on risk minimisation, healthy choices and how to support others. This seminar costs $4 and parents/guardians have been invoiced. Students then have a series of seminars delivered by teaching staff, with a whole group activity outside in the fresh air for one of the afternoon periods.

· Thursday Oct 18th we have a guest from Headspace who will talk with students about a range of things associated with, for example; managing stress. Following this, students complete the final lessons delivered by staff until Break 2

We’ll then finish the Crossroads program on a positive, with a free BBQ for students and staff involved. This will be during lunch and period 6 on the Thursday.

Please remember that all students not attending the camp are expected to attend school for the duration of the program. This is a compulsory initiative from the Department of Education for all senior students in NSW. Anyone not in attendance will have to complete the program in their own time.

Thanks. David Krix. Head Teacher Welfare.
