INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts is a comprehensive, co-educational high school with a specialist performing arts focus.

The school has the twin goals of “academic excellence” and “excellence in the performing arts.”

Approximately 65% of the students enrolled at Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts have gained placement through the audition and workshop process.
The school also enrols students from local primary schools and students who have specifically applied to access the school’s academic programs.

Audition Applications are accepted only through the online process and applications close Friday 12th June 2020. Auditions will take place early Term 3.

At this stage, no decision has been made as to what format these auditions will take - whether they be in person or via an online platform. We will advise of the format early in Term 2.

Students can audition in one or two of the four arts disciplines (Dance, Drama, Music – Years 8 to 11 and Visual Arts – Years 8 to 10) offered at our school. Please read the audition guidelines as set out below.

Conditions

Each audition is assessed on its own merits. The examiner’s decision is final and no appeal can be made except on procedure. Feedback on individual student auditions will not be given.
The purpose of the audition is for the school to select the top students as assessed by the examiners. These are the conditions to which students and parents/guardians must agree when applying to audition.
